SpoilSwap (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use SpoilSwap, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using SpoilSwap, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the marketplace. That includes:

  • Account information — your email address and a one-time sign-in code used to authenticate you.
  • Profile information — your name, company name, phone number, and business address, which you provide during onboarding so other users can contact you about listings and projects.
  • Project and material listings — the locations, quantities, material types, and other details you submit.
  • Usage data — basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and pages viewed, collected to keep the Service secure and to understand how it is used.
  • Cookies and session tokens — used to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

  • Create and maintain your account and authenticate sign-ins;
  • Display your listings and profile to other users so they can contact you about material or projects;
  • Calculate distances and match you with nearby projects or suppliers;
  • Send you transactional email (sign-in codes, notifications about messages or listings you are part of);
  • Monitor and improve the Service, detect abuse, and enforce our Terms.

3. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketers. We do not use your data to profile you for third-party ads.

Other SpoilSwap users will see the profile, project, and listing information you choose to publish (for example, your name, company, project address, and contact info on listings you post) — that is how the marketplace works. You control what you post.

4. Service Providers We Rely On

We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to operate the Service. These providers process data only on our behalf, under contract, and only to help deliver SpoilSwap — not for their own marketing. They include:

  • Supabase — our managed database and authentication provider, which stores your account and listing data.
  • Mapbox — geocoding and distance calculations for addresses you enter.
  • Hosting and email delivery providers — used to serve the site and send transactional email such as sign-in codes.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SpoilSwap, our users, or the public.

5. Security

Your data is stored in a secure, access-controlled database operated by our infrastructure provider. Connections to SpoilSwap are encrypted in transit using TLS. Authentication uses one-time email codes, so there is no password for an attacker to steal or reuse. We limit internal access to personal data to what is necessary to operate the Service.

No online service can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can update most of your information directly in the app. For anything else, email us at privacy@spoilswap.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children’s Privacy

SpoilSwap is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

SpoilSwap is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
